Collaboration with Dipl.-Ing. Florian Kosche AS and Oslo Tre
Competition entry for a new fire station by Bjørvika harbour in the centre of Oslo. Fluted facade elements with glazed surface, brick gables and timber framed structure. The starting point for the structure is a regular grid set out at 6 x 6 m, constructed by glulam timber beams, held up by four brick gables whilst cantilevering over the main hall. The gables are associated to the brick architecture of the adjacent medieval fortress and the 17th century masonry neighbourhood nearby. It is protected by a skin of fluted panels, relating to the corrugated sheet panelling of the harbour architecture.
