Open competition entry 3rd place prize 2018

The brief for the competition was to design a 2300 m2 indoor pavilion to showcase Norwegian culture during one of the biggest cultural fairs in the world. Our proposal "Folkebiblioteket" emphasizes the role of the Norwegian local public library as a conduit of culture throughout Norway. The pavilion consists of reclaimed linoleum floors, scalar permutations of iconic municipal furniture and fabric curtains in a layered and flexible arrangement with applied photographs by Jo Straube . The project was a collaborative effort between Kastler Skjeseth Architects , the writer and essayist Tore Espedal , the artist Johannes Engelsen Espedal and the photographer Jo Straube . Jo Straube is the photographer and author of the project Det Norske Biblioteket , a beautiful book and exhibition set chronicling the local libraries of Norway.
