The project consist of the renovation and expansion of an institutional building from the 1920’s in Dypvåg, Tvedestrand on the south coast of Norway. The main building, previously a nursing home, of 1100 m2 will be transformed into a holiday place for a private company.
Dypvåg nursing home for sailors was built in 1925 and has been extended in several phases. Today, the main house is furnished with 10 bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms, a common living room and kitchen The main house is to be preserved and adapted for new use. New additions to the east, west and south contain foyers and conservatories, balconies and escape routes. The escape routes to the east and west with associated balconies are cast in white concrete with concave formwork. The extension to the south have large picture windows and concave timber cladding.
